Eight Years

Rice University’s commencement ceremony was held this morning.  It occurred to me this morning that it has been eight years since I graduated.  Eight years!  If I live to be 80, that’s 10% of my life (I am hoping to live past 80, but I really didn’t want to get into any heavy mathematical calculations).  I have lived in Houston for 12 years.  One third of those years were at Rice, but two-thirds of them were after Rice.  That really is amazing.  Suddenly I’m 30, married, the father of a mischievous little boy AND about to move to the suburbs.  Incredible.
